Seniors Active Living Centres

St. Clair O’Connor Community’s Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC) offers a variety of physical, social and academic activities designed to promote independence in a safe and welcoming environment that embraces the diversity of our community. Our SALC takes great pride in the planning, implementation and evaluation of activities in conjunction with its Members. All of our activities are delivered by the activation coordinator in conjunction with our partner health organizations/professionals, the Mennonite churches, and contracted instructors to provide the following:

Activities

  • documentaries, travelogue, astronomers and heritage club
  • horticultural therapy
  • Saturday Night at the Movies
  • shopping excursions
  • sewing, quilters corner, arts and crafts
  • lunches, socials, and members’ birthday parties
  • games (wii bowling, bingo, bridge and euchre)
  • special events and cultural celebrations
  • monthly activities bulletin and notices
  • monthly volunteer team and members’ council meetings
  • fundraising activities including textile sales, annual bazaar and parties
  • community outings
  • christian meditation, bible study & worship services
  • fun & fitness (fall prevention exercises), tai chi, belly dancing , chair yoga & zumba
  • SCOC clinic services
