1970s

Danforth Mennonite Church creates outreach programs for seniors in East York including Meals on Wheels delivery, home visitations and a drop-in centre.
Danforth Mennonite Church establishes a Seniors’ Housing Committee and Toronto United Mennonite Church conducts a survey of seniors to determine needs. The two churches form a Steering Committee.

1980s

1980s

Paul Willison Motors sells the property at St. Clair Avenue East and O’Connor Drive at a below-market rate because Willison believes in the vision of a nonprofit housing community.

1981 – Ground-breaking Ceremony

St. Clair O’Connor Community is incorporated and the ground-breaking ceremony is held November 1st.

1983 – Doors Open

SCOC’s doors open, welcoming seniors and families into an intergenerational community.

1997 – Foundation is Created

1997 – Foundation is Created

St. Clair O’Connor Community Foundation is created to fund programs and services which support seniors and families in their pursuit of life-long learning and meaningful participation in inclusive, intergenerational communities.
